October 2010

In October 2010, the Academy Council adopted a “Position Paper in Postgraduate Medical Education” prepared by the Education Committee. Following the adoption of this Position Paper, the Academy Council agreed that a simulation center should be established at the Academy to provide training for trainees, as well as for Fellows who may wish to learn novel procedures which they have not been taught before. The establishment of a simulation center at the Academy would thus facilitate update of knowledge for Fellows, especially those who are in private practice and not able to gain access to simulation facilities in other institutions.

July 2013

In July 2013, the Academy signed an agreement with the Center of Medical Simulation, seeking to promote patient safety, medical education, and research using simulation in Hong Kong.

December 2013

The Academy’s Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine was officially opened on 10 December 2013. 
2016

November 2016

In November 2016, the HKJC ILCM was officially recognised as an affiliate of the CMS. Dr. Robert Simon, Senior Director (Educational Leadership and International Programs) of the CMS, presented a plaque to the HKJC ILCM signifying the affiliation, which aims to achieve a common goal of improving patient safety.

June 2018

The HKAM and CMS have developed the partnership since 2013 to build up international network and enrich professional development in the domain of medical simulation. The two parties extended the agreement to continue the collaboration in June 2018. The HKAM is designated as an Alliance Member of the CMS.
